Fill the removable tank with fresh drinking water and switch on. The approximately 25-second heat-up gives you just enough time to reach for your favourite cup.

Choose a coffee to match your mood. Lift the lever, insert an Original-compatible capsule, and close it to prepare for your brew.

Set your cup on the tray and select espresso or lungo. When your coffee is ready, lift and close the lever to eject the used capsule into its container.

From choosing the right capsules to making your favourite milk coffee, here are the details to help you feel at home with Essenza Mini.
Which capsules can I use?
Use Nespresso Original capsules or capsules explicitly labelled compatible with Nespresso Original machines. Vertuo capsules are not compatible. Do not put loose ground coffee or whole beans into the capsule compartment.
Can I make a latte or cappuccino?
Yes. Brew an espresso, then add milk heated and frothed in a separate milk frother, such as an Aeroccino. Essenza Mini does not have a built-in steam wand or milk frother. Check your chosen bundle to see whether a separate frother is included.
How quickly is it ready to brew?
It heats up in approximately 25 seconds. The Espresso and Lungo buttons blink while heating and stay lit when the machine is ready. Brewing takes additional time.
Can I adjust the amount of coffee?
Yes. The default volumes are 40 ml for Espresso and 110 ml for Lungo. With the machine ready, insert a capsule and place your cup underneath. Hold the chosen button and release it at your preferred volume. That volume is saved for future use.
Does it switch off automatically?
Yes. It switches off after 9 minutes of inactivity by default. You can change this to 30 minutes using the energy-saving settings described in the instruction manual.
How do I keep it clean?
Empty the drip tray and used-capsule container daily. Wash removable parts with an odourless detergent, rinse thoroughly, and dry. Wipe the coffee outlet with a damp cloth. Descale following the machine manual and Nespresso's descaling instructions.
