Your coffee, step by step
Get started with the Barista Touch™ in five simple steps.
Fill the water tank with fresh water and add roasted whole beans to the hopper. Turn on the machine and select your drink on the touchscreen. For first use, complete the setup and rinse steps in the manual.
Fit the appropriate filter basket into the portafilter and place it in the grinding cradle. Use the touchscreen to start grinding, adjusting grind size and duration as needed for your beans.
Distribute the grounds evenly and tamp firmly by hand. Wipe the basket rim, lock the portafilter into the group head and place your cup underneath. Start brewing from the touchscreen.
For milk-based drinks, fill the jug between its marked levels. Position the steam wand in the milk with the jug resting on the temperature sensor. Choose your milk temperature and texture, then start automatic steaming.
Pour your milk into the espresso, or enjoy your shot on its own. Wipe the steam wand carefully with a damp cloth and lower it for the automatic purge, keeping hands clear. Empty and rinse the portafilter after use.

Bring your coffee setup together in one machine. The integrated grinder and stainless steel housing create a streamlined coffee corner, with easy access to the touchscreen and brewing area. Leave room around the machine for refilling and milk steaming.
All-in-one coffee setupGrind beans directly into your portafilter with the integrated conical burr grinder. Choose from 30 grind settings to fine-tune your espresso, adjusting the grind as you explore different beans and roast styles.
30 grind settingsSet the grinding duration to help repeat your preferred dose. Coffee is dispensed into the portafilter, ready for you to distribute and tamp by hand. When changing beans or grind size, check the dose and adjust the grinding time as needed.
Adjustable grind timeLow-pressure pre-infusion gently wets the coffee grounds before the machine moves to 9-bar extraction. This prepares the puck for brewing and helps develop a balanced espresso with rich flavor and crema.
Pre-infusion + 9-bar extractionPID temperature control helps regulate brewing water temperature for consistent extraction. Together with your grind size, dose and shot time, temperature plays a key role in bringing out the character of your coffee.

The Barista Touch offers a touchscreen, saved drink settings and automatic milk texturing for a more guided experience. The Barista Express uses traditional controls and manual milk steaming. Both let you grind fresh beans and tamp manually; the better choice depends on how much assistance you want in your coffee routine.
You can make an Americano by combining espresso with hot water. Start with a well-extracted shot, then adjust the amount of water to your preferred strength. Fresh beans and a suitable grind setting help you achieve a balanced result.
The touchscreen simplifies drink selection and lets you adjust coffee strength, milk temperature and milk texture. Automatic milk texturing helps with lattes and cappuccinos, while you still prepare and tamp the coffee manually. Expect a little practice when adjusting the grind for new beans.
You can create and save up to eight personalized coffees, including your preferred coffee strength, milk temperature and texture. These are saved drink presets rather than separate user accounts, making it easy to return to your favorite settings.
Allow space for the machine plus room to move the steam wand, remove the water tank and refill the bean hopper. Check the dimensions for your exact model before buying, especially if it will sit beneath kitchen cabinets.
